Light Rider & blitzTag at MAKERPLATZ

GRL Germany is participating in Makerplatz and the People in Beta Festival this weekend.  Details of our activities below.

Mushroom Throwies | Saturday Oct 1 13:00 +  | Planet Modulor Hof (U-bahn Moritzplatz)

Pilz throwies are small textile objects with magnets which can be thrown onto ferro metallic surfaces in and out of reach. This workshop will give you the chance to learn how to sew your own mushroom-shaped yarn throwie. Plant it public space as a soft graffiti intervention!

Light Rider & blitzTag | Saturday Oct 1 | 20:00 +  | Moritzplatz area

GRL Germany will bring our mobile projection unit, the Light Rider, to Makerplatz, and light up the walls with laser-based digital graffiti.  Connecting the various spaces of the Makerplatz and People in Beta Festival, we’ll provide interactive, light-based options to transform these spaces, allowing the public to use the city as their canvas.

These events are part of Makerplatz & the People in Beta Festival

As part of 48 Hours Neukölln – starting this Friday – Graffiti Research Lab Germany is premiering two new projects:

and

DEETS !!!
(subject to change, dependent upon police interaction- follow our Twitter Feed for up-to-the-minute news)

Hermannplatz, SW Corner, Friday June 17th, 11pm ++

Mobile Broadcast Unit aka the “Light Rider”

Following in the grand tradition of our sister cells in New York, Vienna, and Montreal, we have recently secured some funding to produce a Mobile Broadcast Unit – a Copenhagen-style, front-loaded cargo bike, outfitted with a deep cycle battery, power inverter, beamer, laptop, camera, and sound system with fm transmission.

This will allow us to do guerilla projection bombing anywhere in Berlin.

Anyone with interest and/or experience in bike modding and mobile power is welcome to contact us and become involved.

Once we have finished construction, we will be offering the MBU as an equipment grant to other artistic, social, and political groups for events (MayDay riots, anyone ??)

Thanks to the Berlin Chapter of the Awesome Foundation and KulturAmt Nuekölln for the support. We’ll make you proud!
